Report by Kris Johannsson
With over half of last year's Varsity team no longer around, it was crucial that the Novices tournament unearthed talented freshers. After thirty minutes of acclimatising to the CSC tables, four groups were drawn with the top two players progressing.
The games proceeded at a fairly rapid pace with probably three games being completed by the time a single frame between me and Adam Eales might finally get interesting.

Group 2: David Cui won play-off against James Delaney
The group winners each managed to maintain their form and progressed to the semi-finals.
Dylan Sidle 2 - 1 Joe Moneim
Brett Noden 2 - 0 David Cui
Evan Lynch 2 - 1 James Gray
Musab Shamakh 2 - 1 Steve Frenk
Despite the Novices tournament proceeding at a record pace it appeared that Dylan and Musab were in a hurry to leave.
Dylan Sidle 3 - 0 Brett Noden
Musab Shamakh 3 - 0 Evan Lynch
Dylan continued his fine play and illustrated the captain's inability to spot talented players he had been in the same college league in.
Dylan 4 - 1 Musab
